Kai Veitch continues Ginetta Junior learning curve at Silverstone

Kai Veitch continued his rookie Ginetta Junior season at Silverstone, recovering from a disrupted opening race to build more experience across the weekend.

Kai Veitch continued his rookie Ginetta Junior campaign at Silverstone, taking on Rounds 4, 5 and 6 of the championship with Pace Performance on the full Grand Prix circuit.

Following an encouraging debut weekend at Donington Park, where Kai built steadily through the races and finished as high as 11th, Silverstone provided another important test in his first season in cars.

Kai started the weekend with a solid qualifying performance, placing 14th overall for Race 1 and 12th on second-fastest times for the Race 2 grid. In another closely matched Ginetta Junior field, it was a positive step and showed that he is continuing to adapt to the car, the championship and the demands of racing at this level.

Race 1, however, ended almost before it had begun. A series of incidents unfolded ahead of Kai on the opening lap, leaving him with nowhere to go and resulting in contact that ended his race. It was a frustrating outcome, not only because of the result itself, but because it also limited the race mileage he could carry into Sunday.

That made Race 2 more difficult, with Kai having had far less running than planned in the opening race. Despite that, he made the best of the situation, settled back into the weekend and brought the car home in 15th place, gaining more experience in traffic and continuing to build his understanding of the Ginetta Junior field.

The final race of the weekend brought a more positive finish, with Kai taking 13th place and ending the event with another solid result to build from.

While Silverstone did not deliver the clean weekend Kai was looking for, it was still another valuable step in his rookie campaign. The weekend brought more experience of close racing, more learning in difficult circumstances, and another opportunity to understand the detail required to keep progressing in one of the UK’s most competitive junior championships.

The focus remains firmly on development. Every session is adding to Kai’s racecraft, confidence and consistency as he continues the transition from karting into cars.

A big thank you goes to Pace Performance for their work throughout the weekend, and to everyone supporting Kai through #TeamKV, the official merch range and the wider programme around his first season in Ginetta Junior.

Next up, Kai will look to take the lessons from Silverstone and continue building through the season.
